Thwaitedale Cottages' properties are situated in the pretty village of Thwaite in Upper Swaledale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Swaledale is famous for its sheep, traditional dry stone walls & haybarns & protected wild flower meadows which burst into colour in May & June.

It is a beautiful dale with many hill streams that tumble & cascade over waterfalls & it is a magical place to be when the early evening light changes across the hills. It is an ideal place for walking, or simply relaxing and drinking in the atmosphere. No smoking please.

East Chapel and West Chapel

The Chapel was built in 1863 and the present Yew tree was planted shortly afterwards. The Chapel has since undergone a luxury conversion into two separate properties. The East Chapel overlooks the village of Thwaite with Kisdon Hill rising impressively behind; and West Chapel overlooking Thwaite beck waterfall (pictured below).

Accommodation

Each property can accommodate up to six guests in three bedrooms, and the layout in each property is as follows: a double/twin bedroom with ensuite shower & basin, a small double room; with bathroom & toilet adjacent on the ground floor, along with a washing machine & utility area, & a large twin bedroom with ensuite shower, basin & toilet on the upper floor.

The Velux windows on the upper floor give fine views all around; with Thwaite & Kisdon Hill rising behind the village from the East Wing & Great Shunner Fell from the West Wing.

On the mid-floor there is a large lounge/dining room with comfortable seating & quality decoration, with the large Chapel windows overlooking the glorious countryside. There is a wood-burning stove for inclement weather; otherwise there is plenty of warmth & hot water provided by oil central heating. The very well equipped kitchen is also on this floor.
